Musing
So,
Today I made that long, long trek, to the ever be-loved Pasa-get down-dena on a quest of Zelda-esque porportions to pick up the medical records from my ankle surgery back in '95.
I'm supposed to take my physical for the Army, but the infinte powers that be must first review those records to make sure every thing is 100%.
So.... that's ...ongoing.
Have you ever looked at your records from surgery?
The doctors notes on how the surgery went?
....It's quite creepy.
You start out reading; in my case about a 19 year old, white, female, and halfway through it suddenly hits you, like a fuctioning alcoholic semi driver after a mardi gras binge: "BAM!!!!!"....
Shit...this is about me.
I'm that female lying on the table.
And then your brain starts fucking with you, "How much of that DO I remember?"
Creepy.
Just...creepy.
The x-rays however...are AWESOME!
Alas, they were not present in my file.
...hope that doesn't lead to trouble when the Army doctors review the injury.

Tired, but had fun in class.
It's one of those days where I was getting moves right!!! And, hearing that love-rly sound of tapping.
I love that sound.
I love it even more when they're all tied up and have to yell "Tap!" in a panicked voice because they don't have anything free to tap with.
That just makes me love life.
I really really really love life!
I got to tap out somebody to the point where Tim refered to me as running a "clinic". Last week he refered to it as running a "seminar".
Things couldn't be more right.
I love life!

We get to go into work late today as ice in Houston is apparantly a next to near death experience.
:-)
But, that being said all is quite cool (pun intended), I'm more than happy for the extra hour's sleep.
So, on my way in, if the ice gets me, tell my recruiter that I regret I only have one life to give to the great big bad traffic fatality statistic machine in the sky.
Ciao.
Jen OUT :-)

In honor of Jef:
-Customer walks into shop (the shop has a LARGE sign that says "Aroma's Coffee and Tea") and says "Hey, do you have coffee here?"
SEPERATE INCIDENT:
-Customer walks into shop, Hannah and I are behind the counter. In a loud obnoxious voice customer yells "Coffee wenches! Serve ME!"
SEPERATE INCIDENT:
-Customer walks in, lips move as they silently read the flavor for coffee of the day (Costa Rica). "Yes, What's your coffee of the day?"
SEPERATE INCIDENT:
-Customer spends 10 minutes looking at bakery case. "What do you guys have to eat here?"
SEPERATE INCIDENT:
-Customer orders a "dine in" double espresso. I pull a pretty, 27 second shot, nice crema, and serve it to them in an espresso cup with saucer and spoon (like ya do). They look at me and yell:
Customer: WHAT IS THIS!!???
Me: It's a double espresso ma'am. Customer: (still yelling) WELL! NO SUGAR??
Me: Did you need sugar ma'am?
Customer: WHAT is this supposed to be??!
Me: It's a double espresso ma'am. It's...what you ordered. Would you like me to make you something else ma'am?
Customer slams coffee back and stomps away.
Me: ...okay. That was... random.
SEPERATE INCIDENT:
Me: Aroma's, how may I help you?
Customer: Do you deliver?
Me: Yes sir, we can. Where are you located?
Customer: In Houston.
Me: Very good, sir. Where in Houston are you located?
-Customer gives address and what he wants (three drinks and half a cake)-
Me: (Looking up address) ...Sir...you're about twenty minutes away from us.... I can deliver...but I can't guarantee your coffee is still going to be hot by the time I get there.
Customer: Ohh, I don't care, it's not for me....I'm not going to drink it.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
Definition of a coffee snob: Someone who walks into the shop, orders their coffee by # of shots and amount of ounces and asks me if I have the capability/brainpower to make their drink...
I.E.:
Customer: "Hello, I would like an extra hot, no foam, 24 ounce, 4 shot (or quad, depending on level of snobbery) brevi. Can YOU handle that?
Same day, but a lady this time:
-Do YOU know how to make a brevi latte? Are you capable? Good, I want a grande, with whipped cream on top. (Thinking quietly to self: Sure ma'am, would you like me to get a couple of sticks of butter, a half a pound of bacon fat, and some lard muffins to wash that down with?)
AND YET ANOTHER:
Customer: What sugar free flavors do you have?
Me: Chocolate, Hazelnut, Caramel, White Chocolate, Vanilla, or I can mix any combination of them.
Customer: Do you have caramel? _________________________________________________________________________________________________
On dieting:
-I want a small, NO fat, sugar free, decaf mocha, with LIGHT whipped cream.....OHH! And a BIG piece of that cheesecake!
-Please give me a large, low fat, sugarfree, hazelnut frappe, and two bacon kolaches.

So yeah, I'm think reserves instead of active duty.
I can always change it once I get in if I decide I love it more than anything else...but there's too much here that I'm not willing to give up.
Still haven't decided what I want to do... MP? MP sounds fun...but I think you need to be active duty for that?
....Maybe not...ahh the choices... the choices...what would make me sound more like a bad ass to future martial arts students (with the automatic given that I'm female so combat jobs are out (grr) )...
Anybody?
Apparantly I did well enough that I can have my pick of jobs, but what is it that I want to do? Something physical, something active, something competitive, something not in HOUSTON preferably not in North America (unless...it's Canada...or Alaska...that'd be good), light on that sitting in a cubicle side of things, heavy on organization, and no medical (Blah! BORING!!)
And now its time for me to try a little work out... not ready to go back to class, but I think I should get on a treadmill and see if I can not throw up (just kidding about the throwing up, I'm better guys seriously, only a couple more days on the antibiotics, and the holes almost healed...but it left a really pretty purple colored scar...looks like my leg got violated by a bb on crack).
Ohh, and for any interested parties... Jef? C'Los? This friday's book club at the coffee shop is on Orwell's '1984' up to section three (I'll be there). It's a Jef and C'Los kinda thing! :-)
Paintball from several weeks ago...Lol..I'm such a shorty!

Doing better, be back at training and work (but I still can't do any food/drink prep) next week...or middle of the week after at the latest. The hole on my leg's still there but it's much smaller and not swollen or painful anymore...still oozing a bit though. Still taking the antibiotics, but done with the pain meds (I hate those things).
Trying to decide whether I have the physical stamina necessary to play paintball tommorrow. I think I do, but it's gonna really hurt to get shot in the leg.
Trying to decide whether to join the reserves or go active duty for the army (they changed their tatoo regs...YES!!!). Scored well on the test, I can pretty much pick and choose jobs...so now I just need to figure out what I want to do. What do I want do? Yeah for being thirty and clueless!! Tee hee.

So, staph infections are not fun.
For interested parties, I do not recomend having one as your new year's resolution.
Anyone wanna come over and watch me squeeze blood and pus out of my boil?
Tee hee!
It's both educational and entertaining!!!
Ohh...and Happy New Years:
In 2007, mmaquest resolves to... Pay for my hair bands on time. Give up fighting. Be nicer to kiddevil. Start a hbjjc fund. Spend more time with my excessive tatoos. Put fifty bloody noses a month into my savings account.
Give up fighting??! Yet put fifty bloody noses a month into my savings account? How's that work? Lol!

Yawn stretch. Had to be in at work before five in the am today to beat the stupid holiday rush-coffeeneeders. Bah humbug. No one should have to walk into their place of business that early in the morning to hear the chipmunks happily chirping "Christmas Time Is Here"
Christmas time is NOT here. Get a grip on yourselves people. Christmastime (one of my least favorite holidays) is yet a month away, and there absolutely NO NEED for this kind of behavior.
Why, Why, WHY, are you at Walmart at 5:00 in the am or Best Buy at 4:30 am for a stupid sale? You're just encouraging it!
Stop it damn you, STOP IT!!!
Stop this behavior this instant.
I mean it.
I will hurt you. And then it will be merry christmas time for me.
No, the ravenous throngs did not greet us with the coming dawn. In fact the ravenous throngs did not greet us at all. I am tired, overcaffineted, over fed, and grouchy.
And I AM NOT going to Walmart.

So, I did find a place to roll on Friday :-) The Woodland's gym instructor had a bit of free time so we got in a couple hours of rolling, super fun!
Saturday; was as usual awesome, one of Tim's old students who'd been gone a while found out class had moved closer to him, so he came and taught while Tim was out of town. He (the student) is gonna be around a lot more lately, which will be really really sweeeeet because he knows some fun tricks. It was a good class, especially for the new guys. Did a simple half guard escape (from the top) and two different armbar drills (bottom and top), got in some rolling, ab exercises, jkd stuff.
Lot's of fun. I sucked at the jkd, but hey what else is new? Lol, if I ever get good at that...panic...run...cash out your savings, and do something enjoable.... QUICKLY, because hell just froze over and the end is nigh.
Anyways went to class from 1-3 and then rock climbed from 4:30 until a little after 8:00. So, that was a good little workout. Missed Jef's cd release party because I was TIRED! :-( Went to bed at 10:00. 10:00???!! What the hell is that?
Want to plan a weekend hiking/camping trip...Maybe 2 days out and about? Leave Friday afternoon about 12:00 or 1:00 come back Sunday afternoon? Anyone in? Start out somewhere with some massive trails end up a E-rock for some climbing?

So, trying to convince myself to get up and start the day. I only have to work until eleven this afternoon, and then I have absolutely no reason to not go to the gym and work out. I already know that there's no where to train this afternoon unless I want go to Art's, and really I've no intention of putting on a gi, so that's not going to happen. Not to mention I'm not altogether sure he wants me out there, since I'm training almost everywhere else but his gym on a regular basis, and I know from past experience he doesn't like that. When I called week before last he didn't seem to thrilled about the prospect of me sitting in for a class. Ohh well.
But I can definetly go and hit the weights and do some cardio if my ankle will behave itself.
Or, I could drive out to the woodlands later tonight and catch their muay thai class... but it looked more cardio oriented. Uhh. cardiokick. Maybe it's not though... I should give it the benefit of the doubt. Anyone wanna take a road trip out to the woodlands with me this afternoon for a bit of fun??

Oh, I've been training hard!!!
:-)
I'm going to kick ass in drag at the next tournament... whenever it is.
Too much fun!!!!
Monday grappling at the new place at the Woodlands, Tuesday jkd and grappling and kali at Tim's (but I was wayyyy off on my ground game...that's okay it's better today).
Today, met up with Marcus as soon as I got off work and rolled with him for a while, then ran home, rinsed off, and out to The Woodlands for MMA and grappling classes. Good stuff, lots of fun.
Like that new gym. Good group of guys. Got to hit people in the face, that always makes me happy.
Need to get some better shin pads though, legs are so dead from kicks (and failed blocks) I can't hardly walk now.
Bengay, Iubeprofen, ice, and a hot shower are my dear sweet friends. :-) So is the pot roast that Ann's cooking.
Mmmmmm. Pot roast.

So feeling quite a bit more positive today!!! Went and rolled yesterday, didn't completely fuck up. Posted a long blah blah blah on my myspace, but it was altogether to much trouble to copy and paste it here. If you really really have a desire to see me rant and freak out, go ahead but it's really just a lot of 'Jne the action figure with real self pitying action'. Lol.
And the supergirl costume was soooooooo cute, thanks Mina you're a lfesaver!
